Email Subscription System for Blogs - Bloglet is Broken; Alternatives?

April 28th, 2006 I have promised to myself (and CSS reboot guys) that we will update all our blog sites in Taragana Network (like Stem Cell Research Blog, Diabetes Blog, Eye Blog, Law Blog etc., except Simple Thoughts) with a new look and CSS based design. I am hopeful that it will kick some serious a&&.

July 13th, 2006 We are working to provide a better mailing list for our blog readers who prefer to subscribe by email. The current provider bloglet.com is unreliable at times.

October 23rd, 2005 Bloglet and FeedBlitz are both free blog subscription by email service and they are equally horrible. I use Bloglet to provide email subscription service from this blog.

December 2nd, 2005 Recently I had to interact with both of these companies to resolve non-trivial customer support issues. In both cases I was pleasantly surprised by the promptness and eagerness of their support.

It includes providing code samples, software, wordpress plugins, software reviews, news and views, architectural discussions and much more.

October 8th, 2008 Simple Thoughts now has a working Subscribe-by-email facility. Unlike many other blogs which provide this facility, we do not use FeedBurner.

March 1st, 2008 We are making extensive changes on all our sites, so we expect few links to be broken here and there. Please let us know if you find any broken links or any feature non-functional.

February 15th, 2004 Often the popular listings of javablogs appeared suspect to me as many times I could see the same listings on top for days, whereas newer listings with higher view count didn't make the list. However it was just a feeling from reading entries from both start page and most popular page.

November 27th, 2006 In Simple Thoughts blog and many other blogs worldwide there is a feature to email an article you liked (or hated) to your friends. Recently I noticed that this feature is being abused to send SPAM.

January 17th, 2007 After being thoroughly fed-up with the state of WordPress comment spam protection, I have decided to solve the comment spam problem in WordPress blogs once and for all. I have installed an experimental commenting system which is designed to completely stop (read 100%) robotic spam (spam generated by bots and not humans) in all my blogs and with no (read 0%) false positives.

April 7th, 2009 One of the most popular backup systems, Carbonite online back up, has come up with a subscription plan that gives you 20% discount on purchasing 1 year's subscription from them. Carbonite offer that used to come for $ 54.95 is now only $ 43.99.

May 22nd, 2007 In very rare cases I have had complaints when our clients haven't received their plugin within one business day. In all of them the problem was because my email containing the plugin was being flagged as spam by their email filters.

October 23rd, 2007 Sometimes you need to view the full email headers to understand whether an email sender information or other details is faked or to even debug your MTA (my situation). Unlike other email clients GMail doesn't give you an intuitive way to get the full headers.

June 9th, 2008 Thunderbird doesn't provide an in-built way to export and save emails & attachments in bulk. Unfortunately the forwarding emails as attachment functionality is broken on the receiving end (Thunderbird email client).
