Dell Laptop Explodes in Conference
A Dell laptop sudenly exploded into flames, in what could have been a deadly accident, at a Japanese conference.

I suspect it is the battery.
I used to regularly carry Dell laptops in planes (and use them). It is only a matter of time before Dell laptops explode in a plane too. Imagine the fate of an exploding Dell laptop owner on a plane!
Update: According to Reuters, the laptop is now back in the manufacturer's hands. Dell technicians has begun to dissect the machine's remains to see if they can figure out why it apparently proved so flammable.

spill any fluid over a notebook and it will start doing very weird things. or intentionally spill high percentage alcohol, and the thing will start to burn exactly as described.
but right: people do drink a lot in planes, so it is dangerous.
