June 3rd, 2006 I have been getting a deluge of spams in the last 7 days or so, 19434 spams so far in Akismet queue of this blog alone. However something very interesting happened.

November 29th, 2007 I have added a plugin to allow you to subscribe to comments on my blog and track it in real-time with email. Subscribe to blog comments plugin ( link ) allows you to follow the discussion on articles you like without having to check my blog every time.

March 17th, 2005 It was surprising to find no comment spam after installing WordPress 1.5, noting that I haven't enabled CAPTCHA with this upgrade. However I soon realized that I wasn't receiving any normal comments too on very commentable articles.

October 30th, 2008 Simple Thoughts has 2,460 posts and 10,012 comments as of writing this post, an average of over 4 comments per post. Simple Thoughts was never intended to be a commercial venture like TechCrunch or Mashable, for instance.

May 27th, 2007 Cartoon Network, stupidly as before, plans to stop DragonBall Z before Goku goes Super-Saiyan! As a commenter (Karthik) on my blog pointed out DragonBall Z isn't on display on June 30th (Saturday). In short this is plain stupid and ridiculous.

March 17th, 2005 What happened After my WordPress 1.5 upgrade and enabling of an option to reject comments from open proxy, no comments (over 100) were appearing on my blogs. Moreover they were silently discarded.

February 22nd, 2007 Comment Guard 0.3 Beta is a bug fix release. Very occassionally the plugin would request a valid commenter to submit his comment again.

June 10th, 2006 I have been exploring externally managed commenting systems (example) and so I revisited Haloscan (registered in my blogger blogging days). The funniest part was their support forum.

April 28th, 2005 Sometimes I find people evangelizing some religion through comment spamming. Is it spamming? I think it is.

December 7th, 2007 There is a widespread assumption by many bloggers that comments on old posts are mostly spam. There are several WordPress plugins to prevent commenting on old posts, even posts as recent as one month old like, for example, Akismet.

October 19th, 2005 I have recently added BlogAds to my site on the first right navigation bar. I started getting ads.

September 9th, 2007 Sometimes I see comments where the name of the person is not really his name but a popular keyword which obviously links to his website. While I understand the need to have link-love for useful comments and even encourage it, the name field shouldn't be abused by using keywords like "Web Banner Design", for example.
