While comparing broadband packages from Tata Indicom and BSNL Dataone, I came across the revised pricing of another provider with whom I have a love-hate relationship. My last experience with them was ok.

I am talking about Alliance Broadband, a cable based broadband service provider in Kolkata. Their Zoom pack compares favorably with comparable offerings from Tata Indicom & BSNL Dataone. Both Tata / VSNL & BSNL are priced at around Rs. 1000 for unlimited (upload and download data limit) 256 Kbps plan. In contrast the Zoom Pack is priced at Rs. 499 (+ tax) and provides same unlimited 256 Kbps connection speed.

Their Super Executive Pack offers unlimited (download & upload data limit) 640 Kbps speed at 1399.

I think these plans compares favorably with any other broadband plans in eastern India. It can be considered for home usage and would make a nice backup plan for business to provide redundant connectivity and failover. I am thinking of adding it to my dual internet connectivity setup with BSNL Dataone & Tata Indicom Broadband to increase reliability and aggregate bandwidth of my internet connection.
