Changing IP’s and Adding Servers

October 6th, 2007 I am changing my domain registrar of one of my domains from Network Solutions to GoDaddy. Changing domain registrar is definitely a non-trivial process for any non-web-savvy person.

August 23rd, 2007 Round robin DNS is a simple way to load balance your servers. You can use it balance the load between multiple web / ftp or other servers.

December 15th, 2007 Our local setup consists of a single ntp server which synchronizes time from asia pool of ntp.org ([0-2].asia.pool.ntp.org) and several ntp servers in the intranet which synchronizes from the above server. This setup ensures identical clock on all the machines on the intranet as well as reduces load on ntp.org servers.

February 7th, 2009 Setting up a DNS server (with software like Bind) has two major components, the first being setting up the server itself and adding all the records. I will not delve into it as it has been discussed ad-nauseum on the net.

July 13th, 2007 I had several reports from users that the site is inaccessible from certain ISP's including but not limited to CableVision. I did everything to figure out what went wrong without much success.
