If you still havent got the bsnl connection, better you cancel the application and apply some other better service providers.
As someone mentioned above, it really sucks. Every day from november 17, i am calling the customer care center and registering complaints regarding the unsteady connection nature of my data one broadband connection. but till the date, not body turned up to service and not even got a call from them.
Unfortunately, there are no other service providers available at my place.

Very true guys, BSNL sucks big time. It gets disconnected randomly and takes hours to come back. The service in Ahmedabad is gradually getting worse, and their customer support has no clue on any problem whenever I call them. Probably their gateway is at NIC, and that makes things worse. And now I started getting varying download speeds, much lower than the 384kbps I am paying 1000 bucks for. See, while typing this comment, I lost connection twice!!! Enough is enough, I am going to get Siti Broadband and throw the BSNL equipment in a bundle in their office. Not sure if Airtel gives BB in Ahmedabad suburbs.

COOL down guys, i’m using the BSNL dataone connection since one year, no problems yet,
I agree that the customer support team stc is worse, but the connection is perfectly alright, all u got to make sure is that the telephone line is crystal clear, if there is some problem wid the line, get it rectifies, thats it, the connection will work fine.
my sincere request, do not blame the service provider, it’s one of the coolest ISP in town.

i have been using BSNL Dataone Broadband Connection for one year i didn’t have any problems i had only one minor problem which was rectified
please don’t blame it as it is the best Broadband ISP in India and Moreover they will be upgrading 256KBPS > 2MBPS from 1 JAN 2007 that is
500plan 2GB(may be 2.5) limit with 2MBPS
250Plan 1GB with 2MBPS
This is the CHEAPEST RATE’S IN THE PLANET EARTH

I have been using BSNL dataone in Bangalore almost since they started the service here. And I am pretty satisfied with the service I have got. I am a home user. I switched plans in between from Home 500 to 900 unlimited plus and it has been smooth and almost automatic. Actually I find BSNL in Bangalore quite professional and efficient. If ever there was a problem with the service it was due to some problem at my end, wires not connected properly or wires to my house being cut by somebody. And that has also been attended quite promptly from them.
Just my $0.02.

CMD BSNL days that ” we have decided to enhance the broadband speed from 256 Kbps to 2Mb, which is almost 8 times of the existing speed. All existing Broadband users will be automatically upgraded to 2Mb speed, subject to the technical feasibility.” All is the key word; according to him all users including UL 900 will have @ Mbps. But in reality only the users having download restiction will have 2 Mbps (maybe! till now not effective in my state, Bsnl people replies that they even don’t about the offer.) So, Mr. IT minister is this the year of broadband or is the year of lier and trickers to “loot” Indian’s hard earn money ?

What to say about our No.1 Telecommunication of India as they advertise it. I thought only the private services go with such advertisements for commercial purposes. The Indian standards of government run BSNL spend more to compete with their compititors only by spending public money lavishly on such advertisements which has no meaning but makes to know that many useless, lazy,inefficient, ill cultured, misbehaving, liers, fools who act funny, false promising and what not they deserve to be called of the officials who have no concern for the public who pay them their needs through bills and taxes. I challenge if strict action are not taken by the authorities concerned for there easy takings of customer complaints, a time will come, when all the cursing will come true to those enjoying today the public money and not sincere in serving the customers who pay hard earned money with burden of not getting the service that is promised

I have been using BSNL Broadband for the last one year and my experience has been mixed. First of all I had trouble getting my Broadband connection with a week delay and then there were problems for the BSNL Staff to Install the modem as they claimed that they did not have the Modem which I finally got & installed it myself without the staff. However the connection seemed to work very well enough for the last one year of course with 2 or 3 times of non connectivity spanning a couple of day’s. I think the connectivity problem is non existent except for what I have already mentioned. However I have had trouble trying to migrate from Home500 to UL 900+ scheme. In fact they took 4 months to change the scheme with additional charges levied for usage. Not to mention many day’s of visiting BSNL’s office to have the scheme effected. Yes the customer service sucks! But the service seems OK at least in Bangalore considering BSNL is a Govt service. Like all Govt services even BSNL suffers deteriorated standards. Thanks to our Govt policies to keep incompetents & the reserved.

I am using BSNL broadband 250 plan. My prob is when I connected it with net, the bytes were sent and recieved automatically without opening an explorer. I turned off automatic updates of windows and other softwares but problem persist… What to do ?? Please help me out …..

it usually depends upon the time of usage.. At the peak times,, u cant get near to anything thats cald broadband!!! Peak times in the sense of evenings, night after 10 or 11,, ,, the modem jst doesnt connect!! mine is a bit of a rural area and i dont experience probs around the clock. The case mayb drastically different in cities,, where there is huge usage around the clock!!! i get immediate response from the customer care and they are willing to help…. I was totally fed up with the BSNL schemes, was thinking of changing, after which they came up with more bandwidth and usage..
They come up with offers rarely , but wen they do, it totally rocks!!!

BSNL data one is same here in sikkim… there’s no real competitor here.. so they are doing fuckin monopoly in the state.
Firsly Their bill never appeared with the phone bill.. for the 6 months, and suddenly they charged me Rs. 30,000 for 6 month broadband usage..
I regret that i recommended it to my friend, who also got 17,000 bill for 3 months. fuckin assholes. now they are forcing me pay the bill..
I went to their higher offices but no luck.. they all say.. it’s the bandwidth that i’ve used for 6 months. I mean is bandwidth that expensive..
fuckin loosers.. they should atleast have the decency to talk with customers.

1. How long it takes to get a connection
2. What are the typical upload/download speeds
3. How reliable is the connection.

Depends on your plan. They do keep their promises in my experience.

Not very. Expect unexplained downtimes. Support is an alien concept to BSNL.

Yes but you must use also a backup provider like Cable.

WELL.. I HAVE NO PROBS USING BSNL BROADBAND.. I LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN IN TAMILNADU .. I M UNDER 500 HOME SCHEME .. AND I GET A VERY GOOD BROWSING SPEED AND A DOWNLOAD SPEED AROUND 100 KBPS WHICH IS PRETTY GOOD WHEN COMPARED TO AIRTEL AND OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS IN MY TOWN .. i guess i got BSNL broadband about March 2006..
@ 250Rs @ 256Kbps …. my download rates were about 20 40 Kbps…. then in may i changed it to 500Rs plan…. true the link connexion used to go off(Big MF Yellow light) and it took a couple of days to come back..i mean i took this connexion for the 2 8 unlimited an if the link is down all time … y the heck should i pay.?
ths really pissed me off and i got FDM And IDM to Start doing timed downloads off Code Projects from 2 to 8…meaning … i sleep while my PC sucks BSNL’s ‘Available time’…result i paid 500Rs monthly for approx 5GB downloads….
but ofcourse losing a lot of time money and energy!!

Well, I have been using BSNL broadband for an year and I am quite happy with the same. I find it quite fast. On few occasions, it does take some time to connect though, however overall I am quite satisfied.
Other service provider’s rates are much higher (I had does a study before I went for BSNL) and most likely its due to huge amounts they spend on advertisements (unlike BSNL). Having said that, other providers service may also not be bad, however, if I get decent stuff with same money for BSNL, I would rather stick to BSNL.

People if you ever thought u were smart in going for a cheap broadband service, think again!
Your right to proper service is getting compromised there!
This is a state run enterprise and we pretty much how very RESPONSIBLE the state run enterprises are. No use blaming these guys for the poor service.
Most of the guys would have got in, through either RECOMMENDATIONS or RESERVATIONS. So this naturally shows up in the QUALITY of service they offer.
You will never find an ever lasting fix to all these problems.
Better pay out a couple of extra bucks and enjoy QUALITY SERVICE AND SUPPORT from private players.
This is the route that I’ve taken.

Hi All,
Santosh here, well I am an Data One user and I found it pretty cool. Due to some modem problems I cud’nt able to use it accordingly, but later on when I came to know that modem has some manufacture defect after it got replaced its damm. Really super fast.
What I would like to put in front of you is that don’t blame any one, BSNL is INDIA’s, a public Company. INDIA rely on Agriculture as well as Public Companys.
If you allow foreign/others to establish their firms, it would be the same as White people ruled us for more than 300years.
Try to resolve the problem, try to point it out. Dont blame un-necessarly. BSNL does not have a customer care for its Broadband, but most of the people dnt knw about Area Customer Care. Separate Area wise CCs are available, which are given during the intial connection. When ever we face any kinda problem we need to call to that local number.

I never had a single issue with Dataone, had been using it sice past 3yrs+, only issue I had was with their customer support #, you will get the number if you call 1500. I beleive BSNL has improved leaps and bounds and I would surely be with them for times to come..

I took a BSNL broadband connection in kanpur last year and the link used to come rarely.I could never check my hours as that website was also nonfunctional,customer care was pathetic.There was no unlimited option and they sent huge bills after we applied for a disconnection.It was a horrible experience.I have heard airtel broadband is going to come in end of this year in kanpur.the only solution upto that is to use a cybercafe for internet,satyam is also pathetic in kanpur,they stole all my 100 hours years back by hacking my password which they gave me,within hours ,all 100 hours were gone and still they asked for payments,lower staff kept harassing even after complaining to regional manager in lucknow.I hope airtel starts its broadband service soon in kanpur.

Hi all
I have been using data one for quite some time. i will give you few tips to improve your data one performance.
1. Check the cable which is led from the bsnl pillar till your modem if it is entangled with any other cable like cable TV wire then separate them.
2.in case if u find any physical damage on the wire then immediately put a insulation tape and cover it up, this damages receive noises from radio station signals.
3.lift your BSNL handset and dial a single number and wait, if u hear any radio program then you are sure to have lot of noise if u hear some radio then you have to find the physical damage on the wire and cover it up.
4.THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE MANY OF YOUR PROBLEMS IS TO CHANGE THE WIRE FROM THE PILLAR TILL YOUR MODEM. for this you will have to talk to your area line man try to offer him ***** something he will immediately do it.

I have been using BSNl BroadBand for past 6 months its good.
I am in a town in TamilNadu the service here sometime get hung up that too when there is problem in MBM Room in Telephone Exchange which they repair soon.
i am using HOME-500 i constantly getting a connectivity speed more than 1.35 mbps even at peek hours which gradually increases to 1.90 mbps within 20 minutes.
The Download speeds(rates) i get :
Internet Explorer 120kb ~ 220kb (170kb)
Download Manager 170kb ~ 250kb (210kb)
File Sharing 140kb ~ 240kb (180kb)
Torrent 80kb ~ 160kb (120kb)
These are speeds i get while downloading in different applications brackets are average speed.
I get the same speed at night also. But to say the truth own town has less BroadBand users.
But also DONT BLAME BSNL………….

Heyi Guys..
I am another fatal victim of BSNL Broadband…gotta laptop a few months ago…n applied 4 BSNL broadband wireless.. they promised to setup everything in 3 days.. .n it ended up in 3 months.. just yesterday I managed to get my used id n password.. but whats use? the morons are not able to solve the connectivity prpblem I am facing.. not able to view the router page as well..pathetic…and the surprise.. I asked them to show me the router page, so that atleast i can try configiring it.. know whats the reaction.. Big “???” on face!!! Fools.

From Last Month I am facing a problem with BSNL Dataone BroadBand Plan 900UL Plus.
I am not able to attach any file from computer to net.(Yahoo, gmail, rediffmail, naukri , etc…)
If i use Reliance Broadband or any other connection this is working fine.
If any one have the solution. plz post immidiate required.

Unfortunately, in my area, there is only BSNL and they are the the worst I have seen. Their installation time takes over 1 month and that too after paying a bribe.
Anyway, I am considering getting Satellite Internet for my home because the BSNL service is absolutely pathetic.

i am sick of this STUPID BSNL connection. Since the time i received this BSNL broadband connection, i am not able to login to hotmail, gmail. i tried raising complaints but nothing seems to work out. looks like BSNL folks are NOT BOTHERED about customers.
I installed a wireless router, initially it was not working. I tried contacting bsnl people but they were not having that expert people to solve this problem. Then i tried going thro the router manual and fixed the problem myself.
hey sheetal, even i faced the same problem earlier when my windows was not a proper version but still i managed it by installing a good firewall. I installed sygate firewall. There is a free version available at their site. Once installed you could restrict services from your windows accessing your internet connection.

Though BSNL customer care might be not that good but if you see it in overall perspective, its broadband service is cheap and reliable compared to other private players.I am using broadband for more then one year and never faced any problem..Now I am facing a link goes off problem and I have complained to them ..

I have been using BSNL since sometime but I feel its really good and worth the price. In fact TATA is the worst; there was not a week when I didnt have disruptions in service which I never experienced with BSNL. I have lost the count of movies that I have watched non-stop without any disruptions on BSNL Broadband.

Ok maybe you people are having lots of problems but I\’m from Hyderabad.The BSNL service is quite good here.They even answer to complaints on Sunday(that is more than what you can expect from a govt department).I am not saying that problems don\’t occur I am saying that even if there are problems they solve them quick.I\’m talking about my city.

Its one of the worst services. though the internet connection is good, i m not sure what kind of equipment do they use.
Their tech support is the worse.. i was online waiting for tech support today for about 1 hr. Im sure that the phone was picked but they put me immediately on hold… they used to unhold the call for a moment and would put in on hold again.. seems they were trying to show that the person was speaking to me and was putting me on hold a lot of times.
Same old trick which is used at many call centres.
I think ive decided to dump bsnl and stay without an internet connection instead of breaking my head with these shameless people.

All you guys who think that bsnl connection is bad are idiots who dont know either how to use the internet or do not know what speed means.There is no one else other service provider who wud give u such high speeds at such low prices.And who wud provide u with a dynamic ip whose advantages u guys cant even understand.ANd wat r u idiots complaining abt not being able to openn particular sites.bsnl is a service provider.It does not restict the sites u can see

I had applied BSNL broadband during the month of April 2007 and got telephone connection during end of Sep 2007 and got internet connection on Dec 25,2007 after frequent follow up with BSNL personnel . Once the connection was setup I found that the bandwidth as in plan was not satisfactory.
yahoo mail web site takes so much of time to load so is when i try to check and compose email even with mere 100 KB attachment. I find BSNL dataone is really pathetic and hopeless.

I had applied for bsnl broadband connection of plan “Home 500″ and i had clearly mentioned in the application form,
i got the connetion on 18-01-2008, but i had dought i enquired , instead of “Home 500″ plan they have given me “Home 250″ plan , What can i Do with this,Plzzzzzzzz Plzzzz HElp Me ,
Here, They told that we cannot change your Plan to “Home 500″ untill three months
because “Home 250″ plan has to be hired for minimum three months

We r doing Computer System sales and service at Coimbatore and Erode, Tamilnadu. At Erode, there is no problem in the dataone connection and the speed. But we agree that they have no adequate technical knowledge.
But here, the dataone is the leading ISP. Compare to that other ISP are too slow. For the Home Users, 900+ scheme is the best one. Because other ISP are also billing the same amount for unlimited with the speed of 70% less of the dataone.
We thank to the local bsnl office for the high speed and better service than the other city’s bsnl office

While getting BSNL broadband connection, I purchased a new modem from BSNL office for Rs.1200 . Now it becomes my own. But I am not satisfied by their services. So now I want to switch over to any other Private Broadband Service. Can I use the same modem for the new service, otherwise should I purchase a new one ? Plz…. kindly help me !

My usage is only maximum 32 hrs only but the bill has come nearly 4000rs. actually I had paid rs.400// to rs500// pe month but without any call charges they mount me for rs.3990. What a shame duties their.

The following is account of my experience with BSNL BROADBAND HOME 500C.
My advise to the poster at sno:69. Have a trial of the BSNL service in your area, before you commit. It may not be uniform. Especially check the DSL stability.

I took the connection broadband home 500C.
The Router/Modem was given 1 week after the phone instrument. Activated after 6 days. Modem was intalled by my self. Not even the CD was given to me. When enquiered, they told me to phone another number and ask for CD !. Some how I installed it going by their 2 page manual.
Now the real problem: The connection was never steady. DSL light switches off quite often. Works for first 10 minutes after a cold boot. Once it snaps it never gets steady (ADSL). Complained to their exchange,JE,Lineman etc. They attempt to work unsuccessfully on the Line but dare/Care not touch or look at the other CPE (customer premises equipment) i purchased from BSNL it self. Once they even changed the ports resulted in completle stoppage of Internet. (The authentication is failing inspite of correct UID and PWD!. Change of Modem did not result in any improvement. On one March sunday morning the modem held for 1 hour without getting disconnected. That is the best so far and never again. This is most unreliable and unpredictable. Frequent DSL failure and reconnection messages on the screen will frustrate you. Customer service is pathetic. The numbers are eternally engaged or not lifted. Horrible help makes you feel like banging the phone instrument or modem. Complaints on the CGM portal did not solve my problem at all but only caused more animosity with the exchange and field staff, who are sensitive about their own reputation than to customer problem.
On the whole BSNL broadand is fraught with connection stability problems and the staff are most illetrate about solving and diagnosing the actual fault. My problem is still not solved till date. May the Devils fuck the crap out of this BSNL “BASTARDS” who are trying/Showing off to match the private players’ comptency. This organisation would soon go BANKRUPT. Fuckers are existing just because of monopoly and nothing else.;;;

Exactly. Downloading includes surfing and more.

I agree. Looks like a line problem in your case. You need to login to your ADSL modem to find out exactly what is failing.

Well i will say never to take any of the limited plans of any isp (bsnl,airtel etc..). the charges they impose are not just for download but for upload also .. download/upload charges are combinely imposed on the customer. when you open a page of 100 kB 20kB is uploaded and 100kB is download approx. isp speed depends on the number of user present in the area.. sooo check out your locals before applying. And bsnl has always sucked… they can get better than any other isp but they wont..

The Bsnl broadband service is worst . I got a new connection some time around April 2008, for one day dial tone was there after that there is no dial tone in my new phone, I don’t understand what kind of service Bsnl provides, Please let me know how to discontinue this pathetic service . I don’t need this pathetic service any more, rather I will go with Airtel or Tata Indicom, these service are expensive but service is thousand times better than Bsnl. For the frequent disconnection and change in the UL/DL speed, try a cooling device for the ADSL modem : Maybe your table fan is enough. Check if it works or not (try downloading something for some hour) and email me the result.

the worst broadband you can get in world is BSNL and also the worst phone service. You cannt connect on BSNL broadband when u want. Customer services doesnt literally exist. It is like any other govt department where noone want to do anything. Please dont take it even if u r true indian. Mobile I am not joking I went to India last year and took sim card of BSNL, true indian and all that sought of thing. Stayed there for 4 weeks but still waiting to get it activated. Met ther SDO also who was the senior most officer present there, That B***** instead of getting things done said who gave u the receipt of sim card. it is like money once gone gone. In last week I took vodaphone It start instantely. So

Thanks for the suggestions. Now things are somewhat ok for us. The reason is that I have dual broadband connection with both BSNL and VSNL (Tata Indicom) broadband provider, which gives me enough redundancy and high bandwidth to boot.

I feel your pain. I haven’t had much good experience with them in the past. Now that I have dual-connection, I don’t notice their problems as often. Tata Indicom is a much better choice for reliable broadband connectivity. However for really reliable boradband in India, you need to join multiple broadband connections as I have done.

Buddies i can give my word that those who have nice service from bsnl is from those areas where they have competitors for those saying check the line hey outscrewed buddies is the line gone to some */’&+}^*
as they work at mornings and don’t work at nights First i had the 500 plan at that time i got downloading speed at 150kbps (though wasn’t able to connect at night )after my plan change to 900 i haven’t seen a single day the downloading speed has exceeded 52 kbps I am not the single one with this problem I am reviewing this with many people around 50km in circle with my place all have same word BSNL truly sucks they don’t give a damn about their customers its true that theirs that much customer with BSNL that their services are overloaded. For that they should not have started the service as the others will have started the service. Because of BSNL no one is starting the service in some places. Plz don’t argue with those who says BSNL sucks as it is the fact they really don’t care if there is no competitors on the other side. Plz private guys start your service allover india let BSNL get rid of this overloaded customers. Like BSNL support forum make a BSNL sucks forum i am sure the viewers will hit 1 lakh per month

As the service of BSNL mobile you know which is also known as “BSNL = Bhagwaan Se Nahin Lagega” or “BSNL = BhaiSaab Nahin Lagega” same thing has happenned with this broadband service..
I have been using this service (UL 900) for last 18 months and since then i have used it for like only 1 month cos this fukin BSNL connection have always has problems..
But as i dont have other options like you have in big cities so cant fukin leave it..
BSNL is the worse service provider in the whole world tho its a fukin Public company but its a fukin shame on us…
Amazing thing is no one in customer service or in the field have a little bit of knowledge all the fukin linemans are into sloving the broadband complain and they know nothing what the are talking about and belive me most of them cant even fukin spell Windows and the reason they give you is you changed the password (100 times my password being ressetted but belive me i never even changed the password even once as i dont even know it)or you got virus or your fukin wire connecting to the computer needs to be changed (P.S i got a wirelss connection) so now you know what i mean..
I hope this BSNL sells out soooooooooooooooon and some private company buys it alteast we will be getting some better service… cos Rs. 890 per month is not a small amount for the fukin fuked up service I’m getting………
