BSNL broadband is full of surprises. It will never cease to amaze you with the height of irritation, poorest of technologies, almost dead-man-sitting customer care services and most importantly the service for which you pay. Its a known case that if you get BSNL broadband to work for a whole month continuously without trouble, then either you are riding on your lady luck or you are just lucky. I mean, I have been using BSNL broadband for quite some time now and I already have 5-6 horrible experiences with them. Let me recollect just one.

I had a faulty BSNL broadband for a week. I had docketed for that too. But anyway, I guess seven days is too short a time for them to be responsive. Then I thought of calling the toll free number again on Saturday. 18004241600 if you are in kolkata. So my experience with the sophisticated automated answering system was like this:

1. I called up and after 2-3 times, got through. I was really lucky! Then when I had to enter my telephone number, I did. Here was the answer

This number is not registered to BSNL. Please check.

WTH! I called up from the same number I had problems in broadband line. And they said it is not a BSNL one. Right!

2. Again, I gathered some courage and started the proceedings. This time the reply was slightly different.

This number doesn't have Broaband Access.

Oh yes. that I knew and that was the reason I was calling these geniuses up. But what they meant was, I never had a broadband connection. !!

3. Then I tried to be the Robert Bruce of my locale and rang again. and at some point I was given 3-4 options. I mean to do this press 1, to do that press 2 etc. Now when I pressed 1, the reply was,

This option doesn't exist. To repeat the menu press …

4. Then again, I tried. I failed but I did. and don't laugh. Same happened the next day.

Long Live BSNL.
