As the first dozen commenters on the linked article said, I can’t remember Apple ever making an official statement about Leopard’s release date before now, they certainly never said it would be ready in Fall, and never even said it would come out before Vista.
This is the problem with rumour sites - it’s far too easy for some wishful thinking that’s been repeated by a few dozen rumour sites to suddenly acquire the aura of fact.
