Tadalist is a popular free online todo list manager with sharing capability but without fine grained permission control. Here is a list of 5 must-have features missing from Tadalist (add yours below):

1. Ability to delete completed items from list or archiving old items from showing on the main page. This makes the list hard to use for power users who actively use the list to manage their life and work.

2. Ability to edit and reorder the list from the main page itself. I hate to go to one page to edit the content of the list (from the big list of all open items) and then to another to simply re-order it. This is simply not Web 2.0. I would expect it trivial to make the list editable as well as re-orderable from the main list page itself. This is a genuine time waster for me.

3. Ability to specify URL separately. Tadalist list allows html in that you can use the anchor tag. However in most cases a todo list simply needs an URL field to provide the associated URL which I expect will be linked to the title and provide more details on the task. I hate using the text format to enter the URL or manually link it with HTML.

4. Ability to specify start date, end date and time in general. While this takes it more to the realm of project management and some users may point me to Basecamp, I think any decent Todo list must have the capability to associate time information with tasks, even if it doesn't actively manage it.

5. Last but not the least, I would like Tadalist to have better permission control to share lists and not just a naive private URL method (security by obscurity) to protect private lists. What bothers me is that I cannot share my todo lists with other tadalist users and have them appear on their management screen (provided they accept it). Sharing in tadalist just means sharing a private url.

Do you have alternative solutions (preferably free) to Tadlist for online todo list management? We will be happy to review them in our enterprise blog.
