Cox, who is married to actor David Arquette, stars in and serves as executive producer on the comedy, which has been temporarily put on hold as she sees to the undisclosed issue.
A spokesperson for TV network ABC confirms, "We can confirm production on Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter."
