On this issue the Vatican is correct. This movie, the one that came before it and the series of books they are based on, has a dangerous message for young impressionable women about what qualities attractive in a potential mate. Apparently a dead but animated sociopath who can control the animal within himself (just barely) is a suitable partner and sexy. That the female character Belle “Loves” this creature as her one and only “soul mate” makes her fetish of choice necrophilia. (He is dead) This is dangerous in that there are many charming sociopaths among us who aren’t able to control their darker impulses but they will have sway over impressionable young women and older women who are still chasing after their long past youth. The love of the bad boy needs to be put to rest with the sociopathic non-community building attributes he possesses. The sociopaths have brought us all to global economic meltdown, injustice worldwide, manufactured poverty, the list is endless. To quell these negative trends women, future mothers have got to stop looking to bad men as potential mates. All they can provide are the bad habits that plague us all.
