Luhrmann Honoured At Film Ceremony

October 24th, 2009 DAME HELEN MIRREN and Italy's SERGIO CASTELLITTO have scored the big acting honours at the Rome Film Festival in Italy. The Queen star Mirren was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Leo Tolstoy's wife in The Last Station, while Castellitto claimed the festival's Best Actor prize for Alza la Testa.

October 20th, 2009 The creator of TOM CRUISE movie COCKTAIL will be honoured this week (beg19Oct09) at a New York ceremony to mark the film's 20th anniversary. Former journalist and bartender Heywood Gould will be guest of honour on Thursday (22Oct09) at a celebration of the movie at the Penn Station TGI Friday restaurant, where much of the picture was shot.

October 8th, 2009 Veteran actor JOHN HURT is to be honoured for his achievements in the movie industry with a prestigious award from the London Film Festival. The 69 year old is to be made a fellow of the British Film Institute (BFI) at a new awards ceremony to tie in with the British capital's movie event, which will run from 14 to 29 October (09).

Baz Luhrmann is serving as a guest judge on the hit ABC dance show on Monday and Tuesday as head judge Len Goodman takes a week off. The 47-year-old Australian filmmaker wrote and directed "Strictly Ballroom" in 1992, which launched his film career.
