Dr. Abigail Tyler from Nome, Alaska in The Fourth Kind
The Fourth Kind ,The creepy alien-abduction film releases today. It is about as real as the boogie man. Without all of its manipulated hocus-pocus, there’s not much substance to this mediocre alien abduction story. It’s a spectacular foil for Paranormal Activity,
The Fourth Kind is only mildly entertaining, more often for how ridiculous its characters act and how unbelievable its plot becomes, and it’s thoroughly insulting.
It’s very much about aliens, in fact. The premise is actually quite terrifying. Hundreds of unexplained disappearances in the desolate town of Nome, Alaska (a town that can only be reached by air travel). Shared visions, shared black-outs between residents of Nome, collective unconscious style. And when the audience, become privy to the “actual” abductions, well, they’re affecting.
Some of the case studies, in all their grainy video-glory, are pretty creepy. A slack-jawed Dr. Tyler settling back to her couch after being levitated by some other-worldly force. The film often goes to split-screen, showing what they claim is real footage of hypnosis sessions conducted by Dr. Abigail Tyler, side-by-side with dramatized footage starring Milla Jovovich as Abigail (aka “Abbey”).
Abigail has demons of her own she can’t get over the recent death of her husband, which she claims was a murder. So she undergoes hypnotism and tries to see the face of the killer, who stabs her husband in their own bed at night.
When one particularly distraught patient turns to violence, Abigail is automatically suspected by the town’s sheriff, played by Will Patton, because she has been hypnotizing the patients and getting explosive reactions.
So while trailer claims the film to be very exciting with full of paranormal activities, the movie fails to make an impact on audience mind. Though the definition of the movie’s title The Fourth Kind means alien abduction, it is not justified, according to the movie watcher.

I’ve been researching Dr. Abigail Tyler pretty extensively, and I want to know what everyone thinks.
Fact or fiction?
I personally believe that those abductions did occur, but I was curious on everyone else’s opinion.
If anyone has any information that they would care to pass on to me, that would be greatly appreciated.
Ex: Her real name (I’ve read Abigail Tyler is a name to hide her true identity)

WHAT?? Did the person writing this critique actually see the movie or just go off of the previews. I saw this movie at the midnight showing. This movie has such amazing original footage and minimal cgi(computer generated imaging) because the actual footage is much more disturbing than anything a computer could put out. I suggest you get over your skepticism of aliens and see the movie for what it really is…the best proof we have that there is something out there and we are it’s toys & lab rats! This movie scared me more than any movie or documentary ever has. Not with it’s images but with the realization that we are at the complete mercy of whatever this is and IT is more powerful than any of us, any government and any police force/military. Who do we have to go to? No one.

I’ve read a number of reviews on this film and while they all bash the film for mixing genres ineffectively, annoying editing, and horrible acting (none of which I disagree with entirely), none of them examine to any length the real issue- are the ‘real’ videos and audio tapes actually real? If they’re not, then yes it’s fraudulent what the director did, if they are real, it’s an extremely compelling movie. If the videos are real, it would be nearly impossible to be at least intrigued and to varying degrees, scared by them. Personally, I feel if they didn’t include the ‘real’ videos the film would have been far less dramatic and frightening because you at least feel like it’s real based on how the film presents it and if they only used the ‘real’ footage, it wouldn’t have told the story properly and would have been incomplete because of the real footage we can assume was available. She didn’t videotape her whole life. Making her personal life seem real by giving it the paranormal activity documentary type effect would have been more than contrived. So I beg someone to show me concrete evidence that 1. The videos are fake or 2. The videos are real. Thanks.

the movie is not ur typical sci fi flick but very interesting. people tend to not believe or belittle beliefs and or people because of fear. dont listen to the article above, the movie will freak u out and will leave u talking about it for a while and even find urself doing research which is how i ended up on this site:) people, it is real! it was something doing this to these people. how can a person not believe that others exist which includes spirits and demons. trust me, i dont believe in many things but this i do. it was something out there.

This Movie Gave Me Really Bad Motion Sickness. I’m Still Alittle Skeptical As To If The Actual Videos Are Seriously Real.
November 11th, 2009 at 1:06 am
I wasn’t sure of this movie when first saw the previews, but I saw it last night, and man was it pretty intense, it makes me beleive that there could be something else out there, just watching us. I think the movie was ver well put together and the real audio/video was very beleivable. and most of the real video footage as well.

I seen this film 2 hours ago and i’ve NEVER been frightened by movies, the occational jump sure but this was completely different. this was genuinely an unsettling film. it really makes you want to do your own research.

Movie was creepy. Alien activity would explain Sara Palin…..
November 11th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
I think the movie its good and creepy… It makes me think about what if we are not alone in this universe.. but there’s something I did not understand about the movie, why the alien said that he was God.. so its an alien or its a Demon??
November 11th, 2009 at 11:09 pm

I have spent much of my childhood absorbing as much information on anything ufo related to governement conspericies and of course abductions. I loved the movie and the feelings of a bigger picture it has given people. In retro spec, it is 2009. this movie can easily be mistaken for a great planned and executed hoax. I learened on a “build your technololgy type site how to make a camrea disrupter and of course special effects can do the rest to disrupt ones face

November 12th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
About 13 years ago I woke up at 3:33 in the morning. This happened around the same time for several nights in a row. Ever since this event,I have been seeing this number on the clock(thousands of times)
I once took a flight from Las Vegas and was afraid to board cause the flight number was 333. I get a number in the checkout line and it’s 333?? Too many things to list here about all of the times I see this number but many people have told me that I’m wanting to see this number and that’s why I’m seeing it. But a movie comes out about the number “23″ and then “knowing” comes out and now this??? The time on the police car’s video when parked outside of the Tyler’s house is?? You guessed it 3:33 !!!! Help!!
November 12th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
The writer of this review is either religious or has no understanding of the real world. I saw the movie and it made me really think. Too many people 1000’s of miles apart with different lives and interests have been saying the same thing to anyone who would listen that this is true. Dr. John Mack of Harvard was run down and killed because he was getting close to the truth. WAKE UP we are not ALONE.
November 13th, 2009 at 5:10 am
Saw this movie last night and found the “real footage” throughout it very interesting and creepy. However, after researching the internet, I discovered Universal Pictures had revealed they used fake material to market the movie…bit of a let down (N).
November 13th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Holy Shit! I just saw this movie too and it scared the shit out of me! I don’t care if it;s real or not, I’m going to have a hard time sleeping tonight. Whoever wrote this review is insane.
November 13th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Everyone, despite your opinions, the movie was fiction. Universal Studios has issued a statement admitting the all of the “real footage” was part of a guerilla marketing campaign. Whether we’re alone in the universe or not, the movie was fake. ALos, for those of you putting down the author of this article, please keep your opinions to yourself. Everything this article says is factual.
November 15th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
the foootage is disturbing, dont watch it
shit me up reaaly baad.
its haard to decide if its real or not though, in the cinema your’ll believe it in shock and scare, buh wen you get out and you go home and talk to your faamiily, your feel baack in reality and wonder if its true or not and yeaaah you either wont sleep and get scared of 3.33am or your try get straight to bed so your not awake at night buh your’ll want tooking up in bed and reassurance that your gnarr be okaay.
the film is sick.
buh also after research about Nome you wont believe it its all bulls***.
November 17th, 2009 at 5:29 am
The footage is real because Milla Jovovich says so. Oh, and New York was also destroyed by the Cloverfield monster. How do I know this? Because it was filmed with a camcorder.
November 24th, 2009 at 6:38 am
Бред.
Фильм про одержимых людей. Инопланетян нет.
November 24th, 2009 at 6:40 am
Alien not real. it’s demons
November 25th, 2009 at 9:06 am
Anyone who actually believes anything in this film actually happened is a) unobservant, b) gullible, and c) retarded. Anyone who does *any* fact-checking about the events, names, and places in this movie finds that it’s fiction, pure and simple. The so-called “real” footage was nothing of the sort. It was evident to anyone capable of critical thinking and the simplest amount of observation. That said, it was a good movie, very atmospheric and creepy. 6 of 10.
December 12th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I dont know if that happened in the movie is real or not , but i Can say only what i saw with my own eyes and the true is that Ufo exist, My family, neighburns and me had an experience, for be honest to me it was pretty scary and I hope no repeat it anymore, an Ufo was very near to my house it was also upon my house i was on bed when suddenly i heard to my neighburn in the street screaming and suddenly i and my family stand up because we heard a very strong noise of metal well really it is the best way as i can describe the sound , i never heard some like that before and i could see this objet upon my home from the terraza of my house and my family could watch it as well, probably this sound silly but watch this object too near to my home got me soo scary , i was in shoock even i didnt remember that i had a camera at home for record it,,, well that was my experience if someone else had an experience similar please post it!!! and how say the movie believe it or not is your own desicion!
December 20th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
I just saw this movie and it freaked me out, it’s not the typical kind

Anyhoo good movie but i wont be loosing any sleep over it, or will i? 3 thumbs up for a sunday movie.
January 20th, 2010 at 7:14 pm
To the idiots who think it’s fake, it’s illegal for a film to claim its footage and itself as real, if it’s not.
So to all you suckers who think it’s NOT based on a true story. It is.
January 22nd, 2010 at 12:33 am
ufo’s are all nasa’s experiments but this looks real. but why most things happen in US and not other countries. i think they are good in selling and cooking things. so is this movie.
January 26th, 2010 at 4:04 am
I dont know about aliens but i do know there’s a life form other than humans in the universe…the Jinn. I think these so called alien sightings or abductions are the work of the Jinn. I think people should look into this. the Jinn have the ability to travel at the speed of light, even faster. they have the ability to travel through out the universe, with some restrictions. I think people should definitely do research on this.
January 26th, 2010 at 8:21 am
If you want to know what is real? What has happened in Haiti. Now that’s real.
This film (which I saw yesterday), only creates more fear in the masses.
If you’re afraid, you’re paralyzed.
If you are Paralyzed, you can not act.
If you can not act, the world will continue as before.
Do not be afraid. Always smile.
Peace and Love

I have to say this was a terrible review. I wondered myself if this person even watched the movie. It was a lot better than Paranormal Activity’s boring first 45 minutes and its horribly stupid suicide by cop ending. Whether its back story is real or not doesn’t matter. It was still entertaining. And maybe it was real? At least it got me thinking about the possibilities rather wish I had the past 2 hours of my life back like Paranormal Activity did!
January 30th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
February 1st, 2010 at 2:24 pm

February 6th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
First of all the guy who thinks it’s melora waters is a moron. Second of all the guy who could not find any info on Dr.Tyler is clearly stupid if he thinks googling a mental patients name is going to bring up thier lifes story.
