What followed was total internet frenzy, with everybody tweeting each other “RIP Kanye West“. It was not until Kanye’s girlfriend took the matter in her own hands and sent out a strongly phrased tweet that the matter was finally given a rest.

The story was a well crafted one. The one who started it was a 4chan user on Twitter. He was obviously the kind that looks into all kinds of details that goes on to turning a bizarre story into a believable one. The story that circulated around Kanye West’s supposed death comprised a grand scheme. It involved a pair of luxury cars, a death, an arrest for the charge of manslaughter by a vehicle and a grievously injured person. The imaginative person described the incident as a “bizarre car accident.”

Following the tweet, there were understandably numerous inquiries made over the death about the truth of the statement. The rumor grew in it’s own way, and involved West dying on the spot. Some rumors stated that he couldn’t make it to the hospital. Kanye’s fans were finally put to rest by his girlfriend Amber Rose. She tweeted, obviously quite aggravated, that she did not think that the rumor was funny in any way. She stressed that the whole idea of starting the rumor was very insensitive and thoughtless.

The rumor was, in the end, just another hoax pulled at the expense of a celebrity. This has been the trend for many years now, and Tweeter seems to have increased the problem.
