America’s TV titan OPRAH WINFREY and U.S. First Lady MICHELLE OBAMA have joined forces to help Chicago, Illinois land the Olympics in 2016.

The powerful pair jetted to Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday (30Sep09) where the International Olympic Committee was meeting to listen to different cities’ bids to host the sporting event after London in 2012.

And Chicago received a boost by gaining the backing of two of America’s most influential women.

Obama, a Chicago native, says in a statement, “So happy to be here and I’m so excited. We have a lot of work to do. We’re not taking anything for granted. I’m going to talk to some voters.

“Chicago is a wonderful host city, great people, great facilities. It knows about the sports and the hospitality is like no other and (it’s) a city that works really well.”

The decision will be made on Friday (02Oct09).
