Music Review: Fred Hammond explores his affection for the divine on 'Love Unstoppable'September 30th, 2009 Music Review: Hammond explores divine affectionFred Hammond, "Love Unstoppable" (Verity)
Just when you think Hammond has fully mined his expressions of love for God, he comes out with another album full of treasures. On "Love Unstoppable," Hammond's high-ringing tenor, circuitous phrasing and jazzy chord changes are applied to joyous, uptempo praise tunes and the intimate, slow-burning worship songs that his listeners have come to appreciate in his nearly 30 years in the industry.
Music Review: Ex-Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley's new album is an 'Anomaly' 20 years in the makingSeptember 15th, 2009 Music Review: An 'Anomaly': Album from Ace FrehleyAce Frehley "Anomaly" (Bronx Born)
Guns 'N Roses has nothing on Ace Frehley when it comes to lengthy album delays. The 17 years it took to finish "Chinese Democracy" was generally considered the gold standard of rock 'n' roll procrastination.
Music Review: John Fogerty returns as Blue Ridge Rangers with album of twangy coversSeptember 1st, 2009 Music Review: John Fogerty covers twangy classicsJohn Fogerty, "The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again" (Fortunate Son/Verve Forecast)
Back in 1973, John Fogerty released an album of covers under the name the Blue Ridge Rangers. He played everything on the record, from guitars to drums.
Music Review: Willie's newest release proves there can be too much of a good thingAugust 24th, 2009 Music Review: Maybe Willie Nelson is too prolificWillie Nelson, "American Classic" (Blue Note)
Willie Nelson is one of music's greatest — few can argue that. His popularity crosses genres, entertainment mediums and socio-economic boundaries.
Music Review: LeToya Luckett is edgy and straight-talking on new album 'Lady Love'August 24th, 2009 Music Review: LeToya Luckett delivers edgy CDLeToya Luckett, "Lady Love," (Capitol)
LeToya Luckett calls it like she sees it on her sophomore disc, "Lady Love." The smoldering mix of tracks features a confident, straight-talking 28-year-old who proves she's miles from her Destiny's Child persona of the past. Luckett coos a breathy plea for the kind of man her life's been missing on the sexy "I Need A U." And on the echoing "Over," Luckett confidently warns her mate about what would happen if his fidelity ever came into question.
Music Review: On 'Just James' the lyrical focus is about moving on, but sound stays the sameAugust 24th, 2009 Music Review: J Moss looks to move past sins on CDJ Moss, "Just James" (Zomba/Verity). J. Moss turns introspective on "Just James," his first album since his marital infidelity became public.
Music Review: Canadian pop singer Anjulie delivers one of the year's best albumsAugust 6th, 2009 Music Review: Anjulie's debut CD is top-notchAnjulie, "Anjulie" (Hear Music/Monster Music)
Listening to Anjulie's self-titled debut CD is like hearing a nice blend of Nelly Furtado and Corinne Bailey Rae, vocally speaking. But what makes this newcomer's album so impressive is the lyrical content.
Music review: Son Volt's newest CD, 'American Central Dust,' a lovely mix of heartland twangJuly 21st, 2009 Music Review Son Volt's newest album a lovely mixSon Volt, "American Central Dust" (Rounder)
Son Volt's newest album "American Central Dust" oozes the kind of sultry alt-country heat that seeps into your ears. Leader Jay Farrar may get less attention than Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, his bandmate in seminal '90s band Uncle Tupelo, but his talent as a singer-songwriter is abundantly clear on "Dust."
Farrar's world-weary twang and poetic, politically inspired lyrics elevate such tunes as "Down to the Wire" and "When the Wheels Don't Move," with its distorted guitar and railing against the car industry.
Music Review: Joe tries something new, but familiar 'Signature' sound shines on new discJuly 14th, 2009 Music Review: Joe's 'Signature' sound shines on CDJoe "Signature" (Kedar Entertainment)
Fans of Joe may be put off by one of the first songs on his new CD, "Signature." The singer, known for sensual love songs, drops the charm on "Sex Girl," bluntly stating he "can't help but want your sex, girl." After hearing that sentiment, listeners will surely yearn for the more romantic Joe of old. Luckily for them, the edgier "J'' — as Joe refers to himself on "Sex Girl" — represents only a small part of the personality that shines through on this, the singer's eighth studio album.
Music Review: Al B. Sure! delivers classic R&B on first studio album in over a decadeJune 23rd, 2009 Al B. Sure! returns with first studio CD in yearsAl B. Sure!, "Honey I'm Home" (Hidden Beach Recordings)
When an artist delivers an album after more than a decade on hiatus, fans listen closely for the music they fell in love with and cynics listen closely for a deafening flop.

Music Review: Angel Taylor's debut album 'Love Travels' shinesJune 16th, 2009 Music Review: Angel Taylor's debut album shinesAngel Taylor, "Love Travels" (Columbia)
Angel Taylor's debut album," ''Love Travels," is a lush and lilting treatment on pop. It's a sugarcoated production to be sure, but honest enough around the edges to keep things from becoming too sappy.
Jonas Brothers prefer fans over girlfriendsJune 16th, 2009 NEW DELHI - The Jonas Brothers have said that their fans are the "most important thing in the world," and will focus on their work instead of wasting time on dating girls. The 'Love Bug' trio - brothers Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas - revealed that they have time to date, however, they prefer making music and building their fan base, reports The China Daily.
Music Review: The Jonas Brothers nicely take it to next level with new CD 'Lines ...'June 12th, 2009 Music Review: New Jonas Bros disc is legitJonas Brothers, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" (Hollywood Records)
Yes, millions of teenage girls helped the Jonas Brothers rise to fame, but they're also the reason why the group isn't taken seriously, musically speaking. The musicianship of Nick, Kevin and Joe is often overlooked, but that may finally change on their fourth studio album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times."
The follow-up to their breakthrough CD, 2008's "A Little Bit Longer," ''Lines" features a cool collection of songs primarily written by the JoBros, including groovy ones like "Hey Baby," ''Much Better" and the first single, "Paranoid,"
But the best songs are the slow jams, like "Turn Right" and the exceptional "Black Keys," solely written by the youngest Jonas, 16-year-old Nick.
Music Review: Black Eyed Peas bring a disco groove and summer dance fun with 'The E.N.D.'June 8th, 2009 Music Review: BEPs bring summer fun with 'E.N.D.'Black Eyed Peas, "The E.N.D." (Interscope)
The Black Eyed Peas want you to dance, and "Boom Boom Pow" is just the beginning. The smash single sets the tone for the dance-party vibe on the quartet's first new album in four years, "The E.N.D.," which stands for "the energy never dies."
Will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and apl.de.ap — who ruled summer radio with "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk with My Heart" from their Grammy-winning 2005 album "Monkey Business" — look toward the future on "The E.N.D.," with 15 disco- and electro-inspired tracks sure to be the soundtrack to many a summer party.
