LONDON - Hundreds of thousands of people rocked to the tunes of some 15 top Latin American, Spanish, and Cuban performers at the Revolution Square, Havana, for a “Peace without Borders” concert.

The free event, the biggest open-air gig since the 1959 revolution, was organised by Colombian singer Juanes.

Around 500,000 people were expected to attend the massive show that saw performances from artists including Spain’s Miguel Bose, Puerto Rican singer Olga Tanon, the Cuban performers Silvio Rodriguez, and Los Van Van, reports the BBC.

Juanes was accused of endorsing the island’s communist system, a claim denied by the star who received death threats from Miami-based critics of the Cuban regime.

He said: “It’s a message of peace, not only for Cuba. It’s for the entire region.” (ANI)
