Hollywood veteran RANDY QUAID is facing police questioning over a hotel bill he reportedly failed to pay.

The Brokeback Mountain star stayed at the San Ysidro Ranch in California in June (09) with his wife Evi, racking up a bill of more than $10,000 (£6,667).

They are accused of leaving the resort without paying - and efforts to collect the money over the last few months have failed, according to RadarOnline.com.

A source tells the website, “Randy and Evi Quaid checked into the luxurious five star hotel, the San Ysidro Ranch on June 13, 2009. The next day the Quaids were notified by the hotel their credit card was declined. For several days the Quaids told hotel management that they were waiting for a new credit card to be sent to them, in the meantime racking up several thousand dollars worth of charges.”

The couple is now being investigated by cops in Santa Barbara. A police spokesperson said, “We can confirm there is an ongoing investigation underway.”

It’s not the first legal woe for the pair this year (09) - private investigator Becky Altringer is suing them for $19,000 (£12,667) in unpaid fees after they hired her to investigate death threats and an insurance fraud against them.
