LONDON - ‘Mamma Mia!’ star Amanda Seyfried has dismissed reports that a sequel to the movie musical is being planned, and believes there is “no point” trying to make it.

“I don’t think that’s correct. I don’t think it’s accurate. Because I don’t see the point in trying to top something,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

The actress insists that there is no way a sequel can better the original.

She said: “I mean, maybe if they had a really good idea for a story, but I don’t think they would do it to top the first one. It’s a good movie. It’s an original piece. It’s something that was really popular on Broadway. It’s a great soundtrack; a good, family-friendly movie.”

Rumours of a second instalment started circulating after Meryl Streep recently expressed her desire to sign up for another ‘Mamma Mia!’ movie. (ANI)
