Sorry, guys: CMA drops Paisley, Urban nod for duet

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country Music Association officials say a duet between Brad Paisley and Keith Urban was accidentally left off their list of award nominees.

The nominations announced Wednesday didn’t include their song, “Start a Band,” for Musical Event of the Year.

Association CEO Tammy Genovese says the error occurred during the transfer of nominees from the online ballot to the final list. The rest of the categories were correct.

Paisley still leads nominations this year with seven. Urban’s count jumps to five.

Others nominated for the category were: The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe; Brooks & Dunn featuring Reba McEntire; Kenny Chesney with Mac McAnally; Lee Ann Womack with George Strait, and Carrie Underwood featuring Randy Travis.
