Music Review: Paramore confidently showcases an emerging diversity on disc 'brand new eyes'September 30th, 2009 Music Review: Paramore maturing on new discParamore, "brand new eyes" (Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic)
Grammy-nominated upstarts Paramore have been labeled everything from punk to emo since their breakout 2007 disc "Riot."
Labels seem to miss the point entirely with Paramore. They just make good music — and their third effort, "brand new eyes," is another burst of youthful energy and infectious to the core.

Music Review: Ex-Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley's new album is an 'Anomaly' 20 years in the makingSeptember 15th, 2009 Music Review: An 'Anomaly': Album from Ace FrehleyAce Frehley "Anomaly" (Bronx Born)
Guns 'N Roses has nothing on Ace Frehley when it comes to lengthy album delays. The 17 years it took to finish "Chinese Democracy" was generally considered the gold standard of rock 'n' roll procrastination.
Music Review: LeToya Luckett is edgy and straight-talking on new album 'Lady Love'August 24th, 2009 Music Review: LeToya Luckett delivers edgy CDLeToya Luckett, "Lady Love," (Capitol)
LeToya Luckett calls it like she sees it on her sophomore disc, "Lady Love." The smoldering mix of tracks features a confident, straight-talking 28-year-old who proves she's miles from her Destiny's Child persona of the past. Luckett coos a breathy plea for the kind of man her life's been missing on the sexy "I Need A U." And on the echoing "Over," Luckett confidently warns her mate about what would happen if his fidelity ever came into question.
Music Review: French DJ-producer David Guetta throws a big party on 'One Love'August 24th, 2009 Music Review: Guetta's new CD is one big partyDavid Guetta, "One Love" (Virgin Records)
Listening to David Guetta's "One Love" is like partying at a multilevel European nightclub — bright colors shining, speedy beats bumping and intoxicated (or sober) boys and girls dancing the night away — all while vocals from R&B singers blast in the background. And the club's VIP section is packed: The Black Eyed Peas, Ne-Yo, Akon, Estelle and Kelly Rowland make guest appearances on "One Love."
Though all those stars lend solid vocals to "One Love," the songs that feature the lesser-known singers are what make the CD an enjoyable one.

Music Review: Jordin Sparks' sophomore CD 'Battlefield' sounds sophomoric; few bright spotsJuly 20th, 2009 Music Review: Jordin Sparks' 'Battlefield' is lostJordin Sparks, "Battlefield" (Jive Records)
"Battlefield" may be the perfect title for Jordin Sparks' sophomore CD, simply because you'll struggle to get through her warchest of songs. The 12-track set is overloaded with too many songwriters and producers — Ryan Tedder, StarGate and T-Pain help out, among others.
Music Review: Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace return with 7th disc, the mature 'Burn Burn'July 20th, 2009 Music Review: Rockers OLP return with 'Burn Burn'Our Lady Peace, "Burn Burn" (Warner Independent). Our Lady Peace maintains their status as one of Canada's strongest bands with the release of their seventh studio disc, "Burn, Burn."

Music Review: Joe tries something new, but familiar 'Signature' sound shines on new discJuly 14th, 2009 Music Review: Joe's 'Signature' sound shines on CDJoe "Signature" (Kedar Entertainment)
Fans of Joe may be put off by one of the first songs on his new CD, "Signature." The singer, known for sensual love songs, drops the charm on "Sex Girl," bluntly stating he "can't help but want your sex, girl." After hearing that sentiment, listeners will surely yearn for the more romantic Joe of old. Luckily for them, the edgier "J'' — as Joe refers to himself on "Sex Girl" — represents only a small part of the personality that shines through on this, the singer's eighth studio album.

Music Review: Tom Morello, MC Boots Riley offer politically charged collaboration with new CDJune 12th, 2009 Music Review: Morello, Riley team up for politicsStreet Sweeper Social Club, "Street Sweeper Social Club" (Warner Bros./ILG)
Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Boots Riley of hip-hop set The Coup form the perfect marriage on the fiery, politically charged "Street Sweeper Social Club."
For Morello — a Harvard grad who majored in political science — the disc is in the vein of Rage's anti-capitalism approach and his recent CDs as The Nightwatchman. The innovative axman — playing both guitar and bass — keeps things simple with his trademark dirty riffs, allowing Riley to maintain a tight flow.
Music Review: The Jonas Brothers nicely take it to next level with new CD 'Lines ...'June 12th, 2009 Music Review: New Jonas Bros disc is legitJonas Brothers, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" (Hollywood Records)
Yes, millions of teenage girls helped the Jonas Brothers rise to fame, but they're also the reason why the group isn't taken seriously, musically speaking. The musicianship of Nick, Kevin and Joe is often overlooked, but that may finally change on their fourth studio album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times."
The follow-up to their breakthrough CD, 2008's "A Little Bit Longer," ''Lines" features a cool collection of songs primarily written by the JoBros, including groovy ones like "Hey Baby," ''Much Better" and the first single, "Paranoid,"
But the best songs are the slow jams, like "Turn Right" and the exceptional "Black Keys," solely written by the youngest Jonas, 16-year-old Nick.
Review: Kasabian maintains bold mix of psychedelia with electronica on latest discJune 5th, 2009 Review: Kasabian maintains electro-psychedelic mixKasabian, "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum" (RCA/Sony)
Kasabian's mix of electronica and psychedelic rock is on full display on their third CD, "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum."
Comparisons to Primal Scream and The Stone Roses have followed Kasabian since the release of their 2004 debut. Ably blending rock hooks with layered electronics, Kasabian's sound can definitely be described as, well, primal.
