Bollywood lovebirds make appearance at IIFA (IIFA Diary)

July 4th, 2009 Abhishek Bachchan has performed the grand finale act at the IIFA 2009, held at Macao. Those who have missed out watching it live at The Venetian, Macao shall now get a chance to watch it during the telecast of the IIFA Awards 2009 on Sunday.

July 1st, 2009 We rarely get to see actresses bonding in this industry, but to our surprise we were delighted to hear about Mugdha Godse’s recent hair s‘care’ at IIFA and how Priyanka Chopra came to her rescue. Well, according to the grapevine, Mugdha landed in a fix on the final day of the recently held IIFA award… the reason?  due to some goof-up from the organisor’s end, the pretty actress was left without a hair dresser and that too just hours before her appearance.

June 13th, 2009 MACAU - Bollywood veteran Rajesh Khanna was at his dramatic best when he received the life time achievement trophy at the International Indian Film Academy(IIFA) awards here from his "Anand" co-star Amitabh Bachchan late Saturday night. Khanna, who featured in hits like "Aradhana", "Kati Patang" and "Amar Prem" in his four-decade long career, kept referring to Big B as "babumoshai", in the manner in which he addressed Bachchan in their 1971 heartwarming hit "Anand".

June 13th, 2009 MACAU - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has been skipping the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards apparently due to his rivarly with its brand ambassador Amitabh Bachcha, was honoured with the Star of the Decade award at the event here Saturday. Shah Rukh recieved the male Star of the Decade, while Aishwarya Rai, Bachchan's daughter-in-law, was adjudged the female Star of the Decade.

June 11th, 2009 MACAU - Terrorism in an unnamed but well-developed country was now being defined in terms of pre and post the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards being hosted there, according to IIFA director Sabbas Joseph. Speaking at the launch of IIFA here Thursday, Joseph did not name the country, but it could easily be deduced that he was referring to Britain, where the IIFA Awards have been held twice.

June 11th, 2009 MACAU - Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchans wax figure, which was unveiled at the Madame Tussauds museum in New York last month, has been especially flown in to be showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards event here. Amitabhs wax figure, dressed in a traditional black sherwani suit with a heavily embroidered gold and black shawl, is the first figure to be part of Madame Tussauds New York's all-new Bollywood Zone.

Though the actor was looking forward to his performance, the dates could not be adjusted as 3 of his films (Kaminey, Pathshala and Yashraj Films untitled) are ready for release and there is patchwork shoot remaining for Ken Ghosh’s untitled film.

June 2nd, 2009 NEW DELHI - Brand ambassador of International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), Amitabh Bachchan, said on Tuesday that the aim of the organization while choosing a new location each time was meant to spread the Bollywood awareness across the globe. "The idea really is to be as expansive as possible to reach various parts of the universe and go places which are relatively unheard of as far as Indian cinema is concerned and be able to carry our cinema there," said Amitabh Bachchan in a conference in New Delhi.

May 30th, 2009 NEW DELHI - Yesteryear's superstar Rajesh Khanna will be given the lifetime achievement award at the 10th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Macau next month. Rajesh, who gave hits like Aradhana, Kati Patang, Anand and Amar Prem, will be felicitated at the award ceremony of the 10th IIFA celebrations on June 13, an IIFA press statement said.
